Sibiga in Brussels to participate in negotiations with the EU and NATO and a meeting of the coalition for the return of Ukrainian children 10.05.2026 21:53 Ukrinform Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga will visit Brussels on Monday, May 11, where he will take part in events related to the EU and NATO, as well as a ministerial meeting of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as Ukrinform reports.
It is noted that at the beginning of the visit, Sybiga will speak at a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the EU, which will focus on increasing pressure on the aggressor, supporting Ukraine, and peace efforts.
“Special attention will be paid to accelerating Ukraine’s accession to the EU and opening negotiation clusters,” the foreign policy department emphasized.
The ministry added that a number of bilateral negotiations with European partners and the signing of bilateral documents are planned on the sidelines of the meeting.
In addition, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold negotiations with Secretary-General Mark Rutte at NATO headquarters regarding strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities, protection against threats from Russia, and advancing the peace process.
The key event of the visit will be the minister’s participation in a high-level meeting of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, jointly organized by Ukraine, the European Union, and Canada, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs.
The event will also be attended by Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, EU Commissioner Marta Kos, high-ranking representatives of coalition member states and international organizations, Ukraine’s international partners, and the Ukrainian President’s initiative Bring Kids Back UA.
“The meeting will be dedicated to strengthening international efforts to return Ukrainian children illegally deported or forcibly displaced by the Russian Federation. Participants will discuss practical steps in key areas: locating children, mechanisms for their return, rehabilitation and reintegration, increasing sanctions and legal pressure on Russia, as well as coordinating international diplomatic efforts,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes.
As reported, the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children was established by Ukraine and Canada in 2024 as a coordination platform to unite international efforts in response to the illegal deportation and forced displacement of Ukrainian children by Russia.
As of the end of April, thanks to the Bring Kids Back UA initiative, it has been possible to ensure the return of 2,126 Ukrainian children abducted by Russia.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mariana Betsa stated that Ukraine calls for increased diplomatic pressure on the Russian Federation for the return of abducted children and is preparing unconventional solutions together with partners.
